Job description, responsibilities and duties

Intermediate SAN Storage Administrator position is for person seeking skilled work within storage and backup international team, working on variety of DELL/EMC and IBM systems (VNX, VNX2, VMAX, VPLEX), Brocade based SAN (switches & directors), in multiple datacenters around the world.

You are responsible for
• Provide 2nd level support of storage systems:
o EMC storage arrays (VMAX, VNX, VPLEX, etc.),
o IBM storage arrays (V7xxx),
o Brocade SAN infrastructure,
o Related support tools.
• Handle Incident, Problem and Change management tickets in accordance with SLAs.
• Participate in 2nd level projects aimed on improvements of existing storage and backup environments and design, development and build of new ones.
• Developing technical documentation for supported technologies.
• Cooperate with senior specialists and vendor support to resolve incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• 2nd level support on-call duty in non-business hours.

• Administration experience of EMC storage arrays (VMAX 2, VNX, VPLEX) - comfortable with daily operations (creating new system or decommissioning old), troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance checks.
• Experience of administration IBM V7000 storage arrays.
• Experience of administration of Brocade switches and directors - zoning, troubleshooting, following best practices.
• Understanding of protocols used in NAS/SAN environments.
• Happy to perform on-call support and out of office hours implementations.
• Good communication skills and ability to efficiently work in a multinational teams.
• Good command of English in speech and writing

Preferred Qualifications
• Some experience with scripting languages - to be able to modify received procedures as needed
• Technical knowledge of standard operating systems and virtualization technologies used in enterprise environments.
• General understanding of clustering architectures and principles.
• Understanding of DR concepts with cross-site replications
• Optionally knowledge of NetApp or other NAS storage systems.
• Experience in working in an ITIL oriented company is a plus.
• Willingness to travel on short business trips abroad.
• Bachelor's degree in ICT or corresponding experience in respective field.
• German language skills are a plus.
• Any certifications related to the requested skills are a plus
• Familiar with ticket management tools

You are responsible for

• Installation, upgrades, maintenance jobs/activities, backup and recovery strategies, monitor and fix database issues.
• PL/SQL and SQL knowledge
• 2nd and 3rd support with focus on production environment, deployment, performance, tuning and support of Oracle database infrastructure.
• Support of UHD: documentation of known issues, Providing of Tools
• Participation in 3rd level project support aimed on improvement of existing Oracle infrastructure.
• Provide 2nd level support on-call duty in non-business hours.
• 2nd level support and handling of the Incidents and Change and Problem-Management
• Documentation updates
• Short-term (usually a 1-2 weeks) business trips to Germany
• Teamwork


• Minimum 3 year experience as DBA with Oracle RDBMS and 1 year experience with DB2 (versions 10g,11g,12c,18c,19c)
• Extensive experience in OLTP and OLAP relational databases is must
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration for purposes of installing, troubleshooting and maintaining Oracle RDBMS and DB2
• Experience with Oracle RAC on Linux
• Experience with Oracle RDBMS tuning, patching and installation
• Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control
• Scripting experience for Oracle and Linux
• Backup and recovery using DB2 backup and restore commands
• Ability to use export/import, DB2move, Load utility
• DB2 node directory / catalog configuration
• Knowledge of IT-Security & ITIL (ideally ITIL Foundation certification)
